CRB Confirmation: The CRB Confirmation is a receipt from the Copyright Royalty Board indicating an approved claim filing. The confirmation can be a copy of the approval notice that includes the claim number and addressee, or a copy of the claim information from a CRB account.
Claimant: An entity who owns the copyright to a program and is entitled to collect cable retransmission royalties for the program.
Claimant Representative: An entity that represents one or more claimants for the distribution of royalties.
Claimed Programs: Programs submitted by claimants who state that they are entitled to receive royalties for a given royalty year.
Copyright Retransmission Royalties: Amounts required to be paid by a cable system to the Copyright Office and allocated by the Copyright Royalty Board to compensate copyright owners for additional transmissions of their programs by a cable system.
Royalties may also refer to the portion of royalties paid to a specific claimant.
Copyright Royalty Board (CRB): A panel of three judges that presides over U.S. cable and satellite retransmission royalty matters and hearings. PBS receives money from the board to distribute to individuals who made claims to the CRB. Claims must be made to both PBS and the CRB.
Dashboard: The User's main account page that provides an overview of active royalty year submissions.
Eligible Programming: Schedule Programming broadcast on stations as educational and carried as a Distant Signal on a cable system and had Royalties paid according to the Cable Data.
Program Library: The Program Library is a complete list of programs that have been entered in a User's account. The Program Library compiles programs from all previous submissions for the User to view.
Program(s): An audio-visual work (e.g., television program, feature length motion picture) that aired on a station that is part of the PBS Claimant Group and was retransmitted on a Distant Signal to distant subscribers. The Program record contains all fields in the Schedule Programming other than the broadcast station and the broadcast date and time.
Royalty Year: The calendar year for which royalty distribution is being processed (January 1, midnight through December 31, midnight).
Schedule(d) Programming: The Programs scheduled to air on PBS Claimant Group Stations within a given royalty year.
